Car enthusiasts love to talk about how electric cars don’t measure up to the power, speed, and overall sexiness of gas-fueled engines. Likely this is because of the fact that when people think “electric” they are still stuck on the image of consumer models, like the Nissan Leaf or the Chevrolet Bolt. Even the “affordable” grade electric cars are actually quite exceptional these days in terms of overall performance and driving range, but they certainly don’t turn any heads.
For those who have only ever experienced electric hatchbacks and sedans, the idea of an electric sports car may take them by surprise; but 2020 has some new lines of vehicles that will make your jaw drop. These cars aren’t priced for the budget-conscious, but it’s nice to know that you can reduce emissions and still look stylish as hell.
This article will look at five of the coolest electric sports cars that will be coming onto the market in 2020.
1. 2020 Rimac C_Two
The Rimac C_Two looks like it just drove off the set of a super slick science fiction film. Rimac calls it, “A Car Alive with Technology”, and it doesn’t just look cool; it performs at unprecedented levels. A limited series of 150 C-Twos are being made at $2 million each, and they already sold out back in 2018. It’s no surprise when you learn that not only is the C_Two beautifully designed (including a full carbon-fiber body), but it’s got a 1,888-horsepower engine, can go from 0 to 60 MPH in 1.85 seconds, and hits a top speed of 258 MPH.
2. 2020 Porsche Taycan
Porsche sports cars have made people drool for years, and in 2020 they will be releasing the fully-electric Taycan model, which goes from 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds. However, even more impressively, the Taycan hits full charge in only 15 minutes. The Porsche Taycan gives drivers 250 miles of drive time based on only a quarter of an hour of charging.
3. 2020 Tesla Roadster
Obviously, you can’t talk about elite electric cars without Tesla entering the conversation. The Tesla Roadster is famous for being launched into space by Tesla’s tech tycoon, Elon Musk, but this car is a lot more than just space debris. It can accelerate to 100 MPH in just 4.2 seconds and can travel a whopping 620 miles on a single charge.
4. 2020 Aston Martin Rapide E
If there was a James Bond of the future, he would probably be playing roulette online and not in a fancy casino, and he would definitely be driving around in the stylish Aston Martin Rapide E. Aston Martin vehicles have always been about sleek, timeless design, and with the slogan, “Beauty Unleashed”, the Rapide E will continue to fulfill that legacy. The Rapide E is an all-electronic adaptation of the 2010 Rapide, and all 155 units have already been sold. This will be Astin Martin’s first all-electric model, but likely will not be their last, as the demand is on for high-performance electric vehicles in the UK.
5. 2020 Fisker EMotion
While Fisker has had some missteps in the release of their high-performance, all-electric car, they have also announced that the EMotion will be the first car to ever be powered by a solid-state battery. In addition to this interesting innovation, the EMotion is beautifully designed, including butterfly doors.
