To be a popular influencer these days that also make money requires finding your area of expertise. Not too many people follow new Youtubers or Instagrammers that don’t have a specific topic they focus on.
Gone are the days when you could turn a camera on yourself and document your day and gain a following. People want to learn something from the people they follow so they gravitate towards those that have the same interests as they do.
So, if you want to make money these days then you had better find the topic that people are looking to learn more about or feel like a part of a community with you as the leader. And the best way to make money is to figure out where people are spending money and create a brand where you are an expert on that topic.
In this article, I will give you some ideas of topics where people do spend money and are great areas to focus on as an influencer.
1 – Cryptocurrency
There is no doubt that the cryptocurrency niche is very saturated. But, all that means is that people are spending money on cryptocurrency. It became saturated because it is a literal goldmine.
Should you stay away because it is saturated? Not by a long shot. There is always a way to focus on a smaller sub-niche within the niche that is being underserved by the big players.
You just need to find a way to be helpful to your followers who are interested in cryptocurrency. Help them find the best way of getting a bitcoin wallet, how to spot whether a cryptocoin is a scam and other helpful advice. Then when you gain trust you will gain followers and be able to make money.
2 – Travel (Sort of)
The travel industry is taking a beating right now due to all the lockdowns happening all over the world. And travel bloggers and influencers are having a tough time figuring out how they will survive beyond this pandemic.
So, in a way you should not even consider being a travel influencer. What you should consider is becoming an expert in one certain area where people are interested to learn more.
You may live in an area that would be very interesting to somebody who lives somewhere else. Either they will want to travel there one day and need information about it. Or, they love to consume information about a certain area and are sort of like fans. They may not be spending too much money on the information but there are ways to monetize their interest.
You can write a tour guide about the place where you live with insider tips on what to do, where to eat, and how much it costs. Or, you could offer personalized itineraries for people. Don’t forget that people within your own country may be free to travel to where you are and are more likely to go there if they can’t leave the country.
