You might not know this, but drive in food was invented by a little-known restaurant back in 1953, that grew up to be a nice sized chain, but not a global one, just a comfortable national and well known fast food chain in the US. Obviously, I am talking about Sonic.
Sonic is actually part of the Inspire brand group that also owns Arby’s and Buffalo Wings, but that’s another story. In this one, I present to you the amazing roller skating Sonic that grew up out of a budding partnership between the founders of Sonic Troy N. Smith Sr. and Charles Woodrow Pappe.
The name Sonic was not the original name of the chain, it started out as the “Top Hat’, but the founders found out in 1959 that this name was already trademarked, so they went with Sonic because it didn’t require them to change their slogan “Service At The Speed Of Sound.”
From 1959 till today, Sonic has constantly grown, and while it is not in the same league as the global MacDonald’s or Wendy’s, Sonic boasts around national 3,600 sites and is providing a constant source of enjoyment or millions of customers, oh and out of curiosity their shakes are made using real ice cream.
As part of their constant devotion to good service and good food, Sonic set up a customer experience service online called www.talktosonic.com.
This service is an online survey that customers can partake in and win a coupon for a Free Fountain Drink or Iced Tea. What you need to do to participate is simply purchase something from a Sonic restaurant and keep the receipt. You then go online to www.talktosonic.com and fill in their online survey using the receipt for the data sets. Once you answer the survey questions, you get a free coupon. Now guess what, you are not limited to the number of times you can answer a survey, so if you eat more than once a month at Sonic, you can enter more than once a month to win the free drink.
Obviously, there are some rules to this, and these include answering the survey with a receipt that is used within 14 days of the purchase and being over 18 years of age. The coupon code can be saved for up to 60 days. Make sure you write down the code, which is the way you activate the coupon at the Sonic locations.
There are some basic rules from the site; you can see all the rules on their rules and regulations page here.
